Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board has put in place requirements to streamline the use of explosives in the mines and quarries.
According to announcement “The requirements are in regard to issuance of a recommendation letter for granting authorization to import, manufacture, transport, trade in and use dynamites in mining, quarry operations and other associated services.”
The department of mining regulation and inspection advised users of explosives to adhere to the requirements to ensure safety and high productivity.
Adherence will benefit both employers and employees by minimizing damage to the mines and facility equipment and neighboring structures.
“It has been observed that the demand trend of use of explosives is increasing. So, it is imperative that the processes that govern their administration are also reviewed and improved accordingly.” Reads another paragraph of the requirements published on August 4, 2021.
Explosives/dynamites are one of the major inputs in the mining production cycle that need to be efficiently handled to ensure safety and high productivity.
